They had likely been sitting there for 20 years. The shed was inhabited by mice and insects. The drives have bug debris rattling around inside of them.

I didn't test them, but don't expect them to still work. The side labels said that they were tested OK back in these sell as is, for parts or repair only. They are very dirty, inside and out.
